Dear Carl,
First of all, Happy birthday!
You may already receive the video edited by William, the
video may only a few minutes, but there are a lot of stories and moments
behinds this “happy birthday” project, I would like to share some with you.
1. What should we do?
This is the first summer you work away from home, and
you will celebrate your Birthday in NY. What should we do? William’s first idea
is build up a web site for you using html names shanfamily.com, because you
told him to learn some html before, but he didn’t have time to catch up that,
so he want to use this time show you his efforts. He did spend some time create
the html file, but since build a web site need server and hosting to show the
contents, it’s not like a attachments, so he finally give up that idea,.
But I do think build a shanfamily.com is a good idea,
we can share our thoughts, our love, our feeling together as a family, and it
can play a writing platform for Jason and Joseph, what do you think?
2.
Play piano : “happy birthday”
Since we can’t sing “happy birthday” to you face by
face, the three brothers want to play “happy birthday” song to you. Jason is
very musical on this, he borrow my phone, search on the internet, find the
music, practice a few time, then he got
it totally!
So Jason start to teach William and Joseph， Dad
take out all his camera equipments, work behind the screen to video tape this
lovely moments. They rehearsal several times, but three hands play together is not a easy job, Joseph somehow always slow
than Jason and William, probably Jason complain
something, the Joseph start to cry, he put his head on the piano, refuse to
continue……
We all have to stop video tape, Dad, William and Jason
have to conform Joseph, talk to him, we told him we did this for Carl, if you
love Carl, you should stop crying……
Finally Joseph stop cry. The three hands play a very
beautiful song!
3. Video tape
We try to find a good background to do the video tape,
we change several times, each person got their own favorite.
Jason is very serious on what he should say to you,
he is little bit nervous actually, he grab a pan and paper, start to write.
At the same time, Joseph is very relax! He just lay on the sofa and laughing. I ask him, do
you know what you want to say to Carl, he just reply: I don’t know, but I will
say something randomly.
Jason finish his writing and read to us, he is so thoughtful,
it is such a big surprise to us, Dad is very proud of him and want to give him
a big hug, but maybe Dad’s voice is too
loud, it scare of Jason, Jason start to cry……
When Joseph start to video tape, actually, he got
some idea from Jason’s writing.
At the whole video process, Dad is the hero, because
he make all the settings, make sure everything work well.
4 Story behinds the screen
William work very hard to put all the pieces
together, I think he work until midnight and upload it to the Youtube. He also register
two email address for the twins, because he want you receive emails from themselves.
William don’t want me say…girlfriend thing… but that’s
a wish from a mom, I didn’t listen to his advice, I do wish a girl you love and
she also love you come to your life soon.
The picture dad show you in the video was taken in Beijing, when you were three years old, grandfather and Dad hold their hands together,
so you can act as bat---upside down. What a memorable moments! Now, they can’t do that for you since
grandfather already sleep in the heaven.
But no matter what, the two most important man in your life never stop love you, for sure!
I have all your grow
up moments in my memory, I just want to say that I am so proud of you,
